[ロンドン 18日 ロイター] – Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov said on Monday that he hoped that prisoner-swap talks with the United States would result in the release of Russian arms smuggler Viktor Vout, who has been imprisoned in the United States. If an exchange is agreed, among the American prisoners to be released could be WNBA player Britney Greiner, who is serving time in Russia.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov said, “The United States is demonstrating its external activities. Russia is making professional efforts through special channels for exchanging prisoners.” We are confident that the results will be positive.”

Greiner was sentenced in August to nine years in prison after being detained in February for possession of a cannabis oil-containing cannabis cartridge while entering Russia. Greiner’s lawyer said on Wednesday that the player had been transferred to a penal colony in Mordovia.
