Roberto Martinez after the defeat of the Red Devils against Morocco: “There are tensions in the group”

“Yesterday, I saw the fear of losing on people’s faces and it is my responsibility to find solutions, to change the mindset of the players”, begins Roberto Martinez. “Our team is offensive and likes to create chances. We managed to break Morocco’s first pressing line several times, but without getting any big chances. That’s why the joy was not present on our side in this part. We are not managing to develop our full potential at the moment”, he continues, before ensuring that he “knows what to do to bring joy back to the team”: “We have a few days ahead of us. We did enough things in the first game to win it. We started better against Morocco, we had good moments. There are several aspects on which we were not ready, it must become the case again against the Croats. It’s a bit like our final in this World Cup. I have no regrets about this game, I never have.”

”Very far from their level of 2018”, “Kevin De Bruyne was right”: the press knocks out the Red Devils after the rout against Morocco

With RTBF, the Red Devils coach admitted that there were currently “tensions in the group”: “It’s natural. The players have been evolving together for a very long time. It’s like in a family. If you don’t have tension or disagreement, you don’t have emotions. We know we can do it. We hoped to qualify from the second match, but that’s the reality. We still have an opportunity to pass. Today, we think we may only have a 10% chance of winning against Croatia. This number will grow between now and the match. Personally, I believe in it 100% because I believe a lot in the potential of my team”, he adds.

”Some no longer want to be there”, “Hazard is no longer a football player”: Daniel Riolo still hits the Red Devils

To try to snatch this qualification, Romelu Lukaku could make his return against the Croats: “The more options we have, the better it will be. There are two training sessions left, we hope he can start,” concluded Roberto Martinez.
