Putellas, on the war with Vilda: “Any condition to play the Eurocopa cannot be worth it”

Alexia Putellas, the two-time Ballon d’Or winner, has presented the docuseries ‘Alexia: Labor Omnia Vincit’ (Alexia: Work always triumphs). A work in which her last months in Barcelona are recounted and she also talks about the conflict she is currently experiencing alongside 14 other teammates in the pulse they maintain with coach Jorge Vilda and the Spanish Federation.

“We have to fight so that everything is professional and we can focus only on playing, performing and winning, which is what the profession of football consists of. We also do it for those who will come. We hope that their energy is 100% to play football”, points out the Barcelona striker about the controversial moment in Spanish football with the planted with 15 internationals in the selection

Alexia raises the tone and goes further by warning: “I have been thinking about playing the Champions League, the European Cup, the World Cup and the Olympic Games for years. But then you stop to think and see that it cannot be that any condition is worth playing the European Cup. And not just to play, what we want is to win it.” An argument that coincides with the one made by the footballers who have given up going to the national team, and with which they again point to Jorge Vilda as the main problem.

This series consists of three chapters, and starts with the achievement of the world records for attendance at a women’s football match that Barça achieved against Real Madrid and Wolfsburg in the last Champions League at the Camp Nou. Then he reviews the season with the Blaugrana and ends with the final lost in Turin and the serious injury that Alexia suffered and prevented him from playing in the European Championship.
