Klopp bosses want to sell Liverpool

An owner hammer is looming in the Premier League!

Like the magazineThe Athleticreported, the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) is putting English runners-up Liverpool FC up for sale.

A statement from FSG said on Monday: “There have been a number of ownership changes and rumors of ownership changes at Premier League clubs in recent times and we are bound to be regularly asked about the ownership of Fenway Sports Group in Liverpool.

FSG, which also owns the Boston Red Sox in MLB, said: “FSG has received frequent expressions of interest from third parties seeking an interest in Liverpool. FSG have previously said that given the right conditions, we would consider new shareholders if it is in the best interests of Liverpool as a club. FSG remains committed to Liverpool’s success, both on and off the pitch.”

Fact is: During FSG’s ownership (since 2010), Liverpool have celebrated gigantic successes in recent years. Right in the middle: Ex-BVB coach Jürgen Klopp (55), who came to Anfield in 2015 and won the English championship (2019/2020) and the Champions League (2019) with the Reds for the first time in 30 years.

What would a change of ownership mean?

That would of course depend on WHO will take over the club. Whether the new owners maintain the investments, even invest more – or less.

What is certain is that when there is a change of ownership, many stones are turned over. That’s how it was last time at Chelsea. The club could not stay in the hands of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, passed to Todd Boehly.

The US billionaire had and has his own ideas about how “his” club should work. One of his first official acts was to part with coach Thomas Tuchel, when he made a mixed start to the season with the Blues. Numerous other employees, some of whom have been with us for many years, also had to leave.

Champions League cracker against Real Madrid

Another hammer was the Champions League draw on Monday. In the round of 16 (February 15, 2023/March 8, 2023) there was a cracker between Liverpool and Real Madrid – and with it the two finals in 2022 and 2018 respectively – Liverpool lost 0:1 and 1:3 respectively.
