Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank reaches 50,000 cumulative participants on its tenth anniversary
The tenth edition of the joint FEB-CaixaBank 3×3 circuit has concluded exceeding all forecasts and figures from last year: almost 4,000 participants, more than 1,000 teams, 1,500 matches played and 50,000 visitors in the most emblematic squares of 12 cities throughout Spain . These records crown a very special edition, that of the 10th anniversary, in which the circuit has exceeded 50,000 participants and 300,000 accumulated visitors in the 113 itinerant stops made since 2012.
The 12 stops of this 2022 edition have been in Melilla, Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Pamplona, A Coruña, Santander, Barcelona, Alcalá de Henares, Zaragoza, Granada and Seville, complying in all of them with the health protocols that have guaranteed the health of participants and visitors. In total, since 2012, Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank has experienced 113 stops in 43 cities throughout Spain and has had 50,000 participants and 300,000 visitors since it started.

Throughout this edition, the tenth anniversary, the circuit has coincided with the presence in the city of the Absolute Teams, Men’s (in Pamplona) current European champion, and Women’s (on the opening day held in Melilla, where the participants were visited by the whole team).
In addition, for the second consecutive year, the stops in Madrid and Barcelona have been held within the framework of Madrid Urban Sports and Extreme Barcelona respectively, two of the most successful urban sports events in Spain.
FEB Ambassadors and distinguished visitors
The participants and visitors have been able to get to know three of the great FEB Ambassadors up close: Fernando Romay, Carlos Jiménez -current Team Manager of the Men’s National Team- and Marta Fernández, who has been in charge of closing the tenth edition of the circuit in the closing day in Seville. With the FEB Ambassadors, the boys and girls registered for the tournament have been able to participate in various skill and shooting contests. Together with them, illustrious visitors such as the entire Women’s Team have also been protagonists.

The impulse of Universo Mujer and tribute to a pioneer
Since its first edition in 2012, the circuit has been linked to the women’s basketball promotion program Universo Mujer, which, together with the CaixaBank central court, also gives its name to one of the courts at each stop, as a platform to promote the practice of basketball. basketball by girls and young people, who in this 2022 edition have represented around 30% of the total participants, registered in all categories of the circuit, from Pre-Mini to Senior.
At the stop in Santander, Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank paid tribute to Conchita Santamaría, former player and captain of the first women’s basketball team in Santander, who at 99 years of age did not miss the day, receiving recognition from institutions, youth and the general public.
The support of institutions, Autonomous Federations and volunteers
The Town Halls and the Autonomous Institutions have been, for yet another year, a fundamental part of the success of the circuit, as has the collaboration of the different Autonomous Federations that have participated in this edition.
For one of them, the Navarra Federation, the passage of Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank through Pamplona 2022 meant the closing act of the celebration of its 75th Anniversary.
At each stop, presentation events have been held on the CaixaBank track, in which all its representatives have been present, as well as in the press conferences that have been organized prior to the conferences. At the same time, in each city there has been the excellent work of a team of volunteers attached to the FEB-CaixaBank Volunteer Program.

The FEB launched the Plaza 3×3 CaixaBank program in 2012, from its first edition with CaixaBank. Since it started, the circuit has already reached 113 stops, 50,000 participants and 300,000 visitors. All this in a total of 43 cities throughout Spain: A Coruña, Albacete, Alcalá de Henares, Alcázar de San Juan, Almendralejo, Almería, Ávila, Badajoz, Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Cáceres, Castellón, Cartagena, Córdoba, Gijón, Guadalajara, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Jerez de la Frontera, León, Leganés, L’Hospitalet, Logroño, Madrid, Málaga, Melilla, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Pamplona, Plasencia, San Sebastián, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santander, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Seville, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Terrassa, Valencia, Zaragoza and Zarautz.

Nine years after its creation on the occasion of the 2014 Spain Basketball World Cup, this program has managed to weave a solid community of nearly 22,000 volunteers who support all the official basketball events organized by the FEB.
