In Peru, parabadminton is a sport that is developing and growing. Proof of this, they are the Peruvians Giuliana Poveda and Pilar Jáuregui, who are among the six nominated for the best Parabadminton player of the year for the Badminton World Federationwhere they will compete with three participants from India and a competitor from Japan.

This sport has been practiced internationally in our country for more than 20 years and there is not a big difference between conventional badminton and parabadminton. The same three sets of 21 points are played, the only exception being the sports classes, in which categories such as SL3, are competed standing up and their athletes have lower extremity disabilities, while the para-athletes play on half court.

A long way has been traveled up to the present where within the delegation we have two world champions and soon, if the athletes continue to reap victories, also Paralympic champions, after the modality was officially included during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
