Picture of the week – small against large – society

Is that judo or karate?

Above all, it is art. It is also clear that the little boy in the picture is knocking his opponent down. The symbolism behind it is more important than the sport: the smaller one defeats the larger one, David defeats Goliath, Ukraine maybe soon Russia?

What does that have to do with war?

On the one hand, the graffiti is emblazoned on a wall in the Ukrainian city of Borodyanka, which was badly damaged by Russian attacks. On the other hand, Russia’s President Putin is considered an enthusiastic judoka. And last but not least, the picture is not from just anyone …

Who is behind this?

The British street artist Banksy, a self-confessed opponent of the war. Seven images that have surfaced on Ukrainian ruins in recent days are attributed to him. His works are world famous, but his identity is unknown.
