In the final practice session of the Abu Dhabi GP before the upcoming qualification, the fastest lap times were shown by the pilots of the “Red Bull” team Sergio Peress and Max Verstappen.
Perez can become the 2022 F1 runner-up this week if he beats Ferrari’s Charles Leclair. In the third practice, he was the fastest, achieving a result of 1:24.982. Verstappen lost 0.152 seconds.
The drivers of the “Mercedes” team ranked in the next two positions. Lewis Hamilton finished third, while George Russell, who took the first F1 victory of his career at the previous round in Brazil, finished fourth. McLaren’s Lando Norris was fifth, followed by Ferrari’s Leclair and Carlos Sainz.
After practice, the judges will still investigate Hamilton’s actions on the track, when he did not slow down in time after the red flags were displayed, also overtaking one of the Haas cars.
The qualification is expected to start already at 16:00 Latvian time, but the start of the competition on the Jasmarinas track on Sunday at 15:00.
