Spain has eleven of the fourteen venues (the other three without for Portugal, Ukraine will be a “symbolic venue). The battle is expected to be very long and hard, but Asturias 2030 continues to take steps and is very well placed in the eyes of the body chaired by Luis Rubiales. The mayoress of Gijón, Ana González, and David Guerra, executive president of Sporting, confirmed the progress of the candidacy at the presentation of the new lease contract for the Mareo Soccer School. In fact, the promoters of the project -City Hall and Sporting- received a guide to find out the status of the candidacy, to which this newspaper had access.Technicians from the Federation plan to travel to Gijón to carry out new exams and find out in detail the status of the candidacy Orlegi is going strong: he added coach Luis Enrique as a luxury spectator at El Molinón against Albacete LA NUEVA ESPAÑA receives the first evaluations from the Spanish Soccer Federation tbol after the delivery of the documentation.

The evaluation carried out by the federation technicians has only confirmed the optimism that exists in the promoters. Asturias 2030 surpasses the vast majority of filters with a good grade. There are two small “buts”. One, in the projection of the stadium. Although the creation of this infrastructure depends on the progress of the candidacy. “Asturias 2030 is right now in a study process after receiving the documentation. They all start with the same opportunities. There are 15 candidacies and 11 will be chosen,” explains García Cuervo. Another aspect that is not yet defined is the need to have 3 or 4 5-star hotels at a distance of less than 40 km from the headquarters. The City Council calculates that by then it will have the one in Cimadevilla, so Gijón would have a five-star hotel.

“It is one more aspect where FIFA puts the focus and that will also be taken into account in the evaluation of all the candidacies. Each point counts,” says García Cuervo, Communications Director of the Spanish Football Federation. In the first report made from Las Rozas, the sub-sites have not yet been assessed. It will be at a later stage. In the plans is to have the support of Oviedo and Avilés. In this sense, there is a good predisposition of both to be part of the candidacy. Of course, close sources explain, as long as the annexation to the candidacy implies advantages for both.
