It was one of the greatest moments in Dirk Nowitzki’s career. At the 12. November 2014 the Würzburg player scored 23 points in his Dallas Mavericks’ victory over the Sacramento Kings, making him the NBA’s most successful basket hunter who was not born in the USA.
With 26,953 points, Nowitzki surpassed the mark of Nigerian-born Hakeem Olajuwon (26,946). “To overtake The Dream is incredible. It’s a great honor, I was a huge fan of his in the 90s,” said Nowitzki after his record.
