News from the Government of Santa Fe

The Santa Fe Provincia Deportiva cups implemented by the Government of Santa Fe together with the Federations of the five participating disciplines and their associations, ended the 2022 edition in the two branches of volleyball, and in the women’s basketball category. In this sense, both disciplines had their final instances in two days that took place between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November.

In volleyball, the 12 best teams played two triangular matches and the winners played the final the following day, in addition to third and fourth place, at Club Atlético Colón’s Roque Otrino stadium in the city of Santa Fe, televised by Santa Fe Canal. In the first round, Villa Dora beat Sonder de Rosario 3-1 and won the women’s title for the second time; while Libertad de San Jerónimo Norte defeated Normal 3 from Rosario 3-2 and is two-time champion of the male branch.

For its part, women’s basketball, which played the semifinals and finals at the Velazco Stadium of Náutico Sportivo Avellaneda in the city of Rosario, was championed by the San Lorenzo de Tostado team, which defeated Ben Hur de Rosario in the final by 54 to 50 in extra time, after equalizing at 47 in regular time. In addition, in the previous match on Sunday, Ben Hur de Rafaela defeated Náutico 63-62, and placed third in the provincial contest.

During the award ceremony in the city of Santa Fe, the Minister of Social Development, Danilo Capitani, highlighted that “there is a decision by Governor Omar Perotti to empower institutions and the sports community as a whole, so that the hotbed of sport that we have in Santa Fe continues to grow. The Santa Fe Provincia Deportiva cups are an example, but there are also programs such as Include, Good Practices, discounts on electricity and water services, the initiatives of the Provincial Sports Council, Clubs + Illuminados, Sports Scholarships, Clubs + Equipped, and many other proposals that have the objective of continuing to build a sports province ”.

For her part, the Secretary of Sports, Florencia Molinero, who accompanied the finals in both branches of volleyball, highlighted: “We are very happy with the cups, because it was a proposal that we were able to grow, in a joint effort with the Federations and associations sports, and where all the tournaments included the female and male branch, something that is very important to us. On the other hand, we are sharing the volleyball finals in the city of Santa Fe, but the women’s basketball final was also played in Rosario,” adding that “this year for the first time, rugby had its tournament, hockey The men’s branch added, and soccer also concluded, leaving only basketball in the men’s branch, which surely we will enjoy the final in a few days ”.

For her part, the Secretary for Women, Gender and Diversity of the Ministry of Equality, Gender and Diversity, Mailen Martínez Garat, who was present at the women’s basketball awards in the city of Rosario, stressed that “it is essential that the State can provide the necessary ties and tools so that the participation of girls, adolescents and women in sport is increasing, to gradually have a gender perspective that shows that women can be inspiring, fighting against deeply rooted stereotypes in sport, especially in some disciplines ”, and added that “to counteract the less funding and fewer sports opportunities for girls and women, the provincial government takes sides and continues to stimulate equality in this Santa Fe Cup”.

THE MALE BRANCH OF BASKETBALL ENTERED THE FINAL STRETCH

In the men’s branch of the Santa Fe Provincia Deportiva de Básquetbol Cup, the provincial contest is holding the unified PlayOffs, for the best of three games, with the participation of the clubs that play national competitions. In this sense, Unión de Santa Fe defeated Rivadavia Juniors and closed the series 2-0, to get into the top four, like Santa Paula de Gálvez, who beat Platense de Reconquista and reached the semifinals; meanwhile, for the first game, Provincial de Rosario took advantage against Gimnasia de Santa Fe, and Atlético de Tostado did the same against Colón de Santa Fe.
