NBA, a Washington la decide Shai: 42 punti e game-winner

After his last two 37-point performances each against the Knicks and Celtics, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put in another magical performance against the Wizards tonight: 42 points (matched his career-high), 7 assist, 6 rebounds with an excellent 14-22 from the field.

With his below 118-120 a 6.1 seconds from the end he closed it like this:

Teammate Lu Dort didn’t seem particularly surprised after the game was over:

“Great shot. Let’s just say I knew he was going to shoot threes, that’s the way he is.”

32.3 points, 5.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.4 blocks on 54.6% from the field and 40% from three. These are Shai’s season averages after the first 14 games of the regular season: All-Star figures and first All-NBA quintet.

In a year that should be of tanking unbridled with the Wembanyama goal, the Thunder are 7-8 with a record and who knows that they can’t play for a place in the Playoffs led by their star.
