Who should storm for us at the World Cup?

The whole of football Germany is talking about this position!

After the loss of Leipzig striker Timo Werner (26/syndesmosis ligament rupture), there is a big gap in the attacking center of the national team. And that exactly two weeks before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.

Under national coach Hansi Flick (57), Werner was in the nines position in the last international matches. Who could replace the former Chelsea striker now?

Kai Havertz (23/Chelsea)

Probably the logical replacement candidate. In the last competitive DFB game in the Nations League against England (3-3), Havertz was the only striker to attack from the start and scored twice.

The ex-Leverkusener is also regularly used as a nine at Chelsea. His hit statistics this season: Four goals in 17 competitive games.

► Youssoufa Moukoko (17/BVB)

He’s starting at BVB this season – and may even shoot his way to the World Cup! The super talent scored his first Bundesliga brace in Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Bochum.

In total, Moukoko scored six goals in 20 appearances and added another six goals. He headed BVB in the 1-0 derby win against Schalke this year and initiated the late comeback against Bayern (2-2) with the connecting goal to make it 2-1.

At least at the highest national team level, Moukoko is still inexperienced. So far he has only played for the German youth teams.

► Thomas Müller (33/Bavaria)

The most experienced option! Müller played for the DFB team in 2010 and was top scorer at the World Cup in South Africa that same year. After Jogi Löw declared him out of the national team in 2019, Müller has been back under Flick since last year.

Müller is playing his fourth World Cup in Qatar and is seventh in the all-time World Cup goalscorers list with a total of ten goals.

The Munich veteran has scored three goals in 15 competitive games for Bayern this season. Like Moukoko, Müller also added six goals.

► Niclas Füllkrug (29/Bremen)

Statistically, Full Pitcher is the top contender! The clipper has probably been playing the season of his life with the Bremen team so far. With his goal to make it 1-0 in the 2-1 win against Schalke, the native of Hanover already has ten points after 13 Bundesliga games.

His big advantage: next to Moukoko, he is the only candidate who is a classic center forward. Like the Dortmund super talent, however, Füllkrug is also inexperienced at the top international level. He last played for Germany’s U20 national team in 2012.

It’s your turn now!
