Maradona’s doping could not be covered up. I have never experienced such an aggressive atmosphere, says Dvořák

“The pressure was extraordinary. Maradona was the number one star at the tournament and doping was not taken so seriously back then, so they wanted to deal with it after the championship. I warned Blatter that if they cover it up, it will come back to them like a boomerang. Later, however, we shook hands with Maradona,” recounts Jiří Dvořák, a Swiss neurologist of Czech origin, who was FIFA’s chief physician for more than 20 years.
