Many Guardiola Impersonators Fail

Paris

Lionel Messi assesses playing Pep Guardiola’s style of play is not as easy as it seems. This is what makes many coaches fail when imitating Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola started his golden era as a coach at Barcelona in the 2008-2012 span. He brought El Barca to glory with 14 trophies he presented, some of which were three LaLiga titles and two Champions League titles.

This achievement comes with Guardiola carrying a style of play that relies on possession of the ball with short foot-to-foot passes. This philosophy of play continues to be held by Guardiola until now coaching Manchester City.

Guardiola also catapulted the name of Lionel Messi who is now considered one of the best players ever. Guardiola well developed the great talent of La Pulga.

Messi said that Guardiola was one of the coaches he had ever coached. The Argentine star believes that Guardiola’s philosophy is going well at Barcelona.

Not surprisingly, many coaches want to emulate Guardiola. However, Messi insists many have failed to apply Guardiola’s style of play.

The reason is, imitating Guardiola’s playing style is not as easy as it seems. This makes Messi feel on the other hand Guardiola is also ruining football.

“Pep is the best coach I’ve ever had,” Messi told Movistar.

“Everything he plans is always done. He is special in the way he sees things, prepares for games and communicates.

“Guardiola also does a lot of harm to football because it seems too easy, so simple that everyone wants to emulate it. Then I found a lot of ‘Guardiola’ out there, and you realize what we did, what it was,” he explained.
