Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md said the results of the Komnas HAM investigation report regarding the Kanjuruhan Tragedy were more detailed than the findings of the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF). He then talked about the possibility of adding new suspects to the Kanjuruhan Tragedy from the Komnas HAM report.
“The others are almost the same, but Komnas HAM is more detailed and the data is more complete than ours, but the substance is almost the same,” said Mahfud at a press conference at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday (3/11/2022).
“Now we have six (suspects), if we add Komnas HAM, it can be eight, it can be 10. We will also monitor it later,” he continued.
Mahfud said previously that no party had been suspected of being involved in the rioting of a football match. This is different from the Kanjuruhan Tragedy which eventually resulted in six suspects.
“Now all of them are being investigated by the police, right? In the past, no one has ever been punished for this, now they have been punished,” said Mahfud.
Previously, it was known that Komnas HAM submitted a report on the results of the investigation related to the Kanjuruhan Tragedy to the government through Mahfud Md. The results of this investigation will be used to take further steps regarding the Kanjuruhan Tragedy.
It will take various further steps. The steps consist of short, medium and long term.
“In the short term, it may be law enforcement and administrative actions, in the medium term, organizational restructuring, (and) in the long term, the completion of soft and hard infrastructure,” said Mahfud.
“The subtle thing is the better organizational rules coupled with clear physical infrastructure, yes,” he continued.
