Luis Scola puts on the businessman’s shirt and joins a crypto fintech owned by another former basketball player

NFT and metaverse: the “entrepreneurial” side of Luifa Scola

Luis Scola played for more than 20 years in the Argentine basketball team, with which he won a Gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics and a Bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also won two silver medals in the 2002 and 2019 World Cups. He is the player with the most matches played in the National Team and in 2016, he was appointed by the Argentine Olympic Committee as standard bearer for the Albiceleste delegation. Likewise, he played for a decade in the NBA and had a successful stint in Europe and China.

Retired from professional sport, and installed in Italy since 2019, Luifa bought 51% of the shares of Pallacanestro Varese last Maywhich made him the majority partner of this Italian team, of which he was already executive director.

In addition, together with the ex-player, Jon Fatelevichleads the platform StadioPlus, dedicated to the sale of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) related to the world of sports for collectors and investors.

Reental is a fintech that works in the European market with tokenized properties and has a community of almost 8,000 users from more than 55 countries. Its “core” seeks to provide investment opportunities in different types of assets with yields of more than 10% year-on-year.

How did the commercial alliance with Scola come about? Luis began by investing in fintech tokens in a private way and, after a few months, he decided to get fully involved in the company.

“Reental tiene una innovative idea that unites the world of real estate investments with blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies and a lot of new options that we have with web 3.0 and other technological advances that we can discover today”, described the former captain of the Argentine basketball team.

And he added: “This opens many doors and democratizes access to products previously reserved for certain minority groups and individuals or private individuals. Here you don’t need experience, you don’t need specialization”.

All this, assured the native of Caballito, in the city of Buenos Aires, motivated him. “The product is new and interesting and if you add that the people who are managing it are capable, passionate and enthusiastic, the chances of obtaining a good result are very high,” he said.
