Losing, Los Colchoneros Finished the Locksmith

Atletico Madrid was not only eliminated from European competition this season, but also finished as caretaker. This is after Los Colchoneros lost 1-2 to FC Porto.

In the sixth match of Group B of the 2022/2023 Champions League which was held at the Estadio Do Dragao, Wednesday (2/11/2022) early morning WIB, Atlético, who needed a win, played badly from the first minute and conceded in less than 25 minutes, through Mehdi. Taremi and Stephen Estaquio.

Atletico, who needed a win in order to maintain their chances of appearing in the Europa League, were actually pressured from the early minutes. Just five minutes of the game running, Jan Oblak’s goal was broken.

Pepe accelerated before sending the ball to the right which was occupied by Evanilson. The last name entered the penalty box and fired a shot that actually went wide, but was immediately leaked by Mehdi Teremi who was not guarded on the left.

Leading 1-0 made Porto more comfortable controlling the game and made it difficult for Atletico to develop the game.

Porto almost doubled the score in the 13th minute through Wenderson Galeno, but his shot was blocked by Jan Oblak.

Atletico’s goal was broken again in the 24th minute when Zaidu Sanusi sent a high ball to Galeno’s left. Galeno beat Stefan Savic in a one-on-one match before sending a throw-in from Stephen Estaquio into the right corner.

Atletico’s best chance came in the 32nd minute from Rodrigo De Paul who got a wild ball in the penalty box. De Paul shoots even though the ball goes right into the arms of Diogo Costa.

Porto almost got a third in the 37th minute when Otavio came in from the right to meet Taremi’s cross. Otavio found space to shoot even though the ball only ended up at Oblak’s feet.

The score of 2-0 lasted until halftime. Entering the second half, Atletico tried to increase the intensity of the attack but still could not penetrate the Porto defense.
