Kobel and FC Bayern? That’s the thing about the rumours

Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has recently been repeatedly associated with FC Bayern. What is it about the rumors about the BVB keeper?

Gregor Kobel is one of the few constants this season at Borussia Dortmund.

Except for a fatal mistake in October against Union Berlin (0:2), the BVB goalkeeper delivers consistently strong performances and has long since caught the eye of top international clubs with his outstanding saves.

FC Bayern should also be part of it. But are Munich really interested in Kobel?

According to the “Bild“-Reporters Christian Falk and Tobias Altschäffl have an easy answer to this question: No, Gregor Kobel shouldn’t be an issue at FC Bayern at the moment.

FC Bayern: “Free ticket” for Manuel Neuer?

The strong performances and goalkeeper-specific skills of the 24-year-old are undisputed. The German record champion has completely different plans for the position between the posts.

Top dog Manuel Neuer has “a free ticket” at FC Bayern, as Falk put it in the “Bayern-Insider” podcast.

He can play as long as he still feels like it and his body can still take the strain at the highest professional level.

Future of Alexander Nübel at Bayern still unclear

It is conceivable that the 36-year-old captain of FC Bayern wants to play three or even four more seasons, the podcast continued.

In this case, it would also be difficult for the designated Neuer successor Alexander Nübel to ever fully arrive at Bayern.

Nübel is currently playing well as a loan player at AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 and has developed strongly there. However, it is unlikely that this will be enough to gain a foothold in Munich in 2023 after the end of his loan business next summer.

This could look different from summer 2024 at the earliest if Neuer does not want to extend his current contract again.

After all: Nübel will probably not have to worry too much about another competitor in the person of Gregor Kobel in his future planning at Bayern.
