Judo, Italy fifth in the European Mixed Team Championships. Gold for France – OA Sport

European Senior Mixed Judo Teams Day. On the tatami of Mulhouse, France, fourteen teams met, putting the podium in their sights. Among the teams departing from this continental review also Italy.

A formation formed by Gabriele Sulli, Vincenzo Pelligra (73), Lorenzo Rigano (90), Lorenzo Agro Sylvain (+90), Giulia Caggiano, Chiara Zuccaro (57), Irene Pedrotti (70) and of Asya Tavano (+70). The tricolor team, led by Francesco Bruyerehad to settle for fifth placefailing to get on the podium.

The Azzurri confirmed the predictions by winning 4-1 v Austria, but then the crossing with Turkey did not reserve great satisfactions. They arrived the victories of Pedrotti and Rigano contre Minel Akdeniz et Omer Aydin, mais nothing to do for Tavano, Agro Sylvain, Caggiano and Sulli. A 4-2 which sent the tricolor team to the repechage.

The game against Ukraine it was a killer, in the sense that Italy were clearly superior (4-0). Unfortunately, the defeat against Germany (4-0) was just as clear. Tavano couldn’t do much against Lea Schmid and the same plot repeated itself with Agro Sylvain, Caggiano and Sulli pitted against Jonas Schreiber, Seija Ballhaus and Alexander Bernd Gabler respectively.

Germany in bronze, then, like Turkey, 4-2 against Hungary. For gold, forecasts respected: French hosts win 4-1 against the Netherlands (silver).
