The Guatemalan para-athlete, Juan Diego Blasraised up the name of Guatemala during his participation in the Archery Parapan American Championshipevent in which he was among the top 10.
He got the 6th. place in the Recurve Men Open category in this competition, as well as a new personal best.
Juan Diego Blas, among the best on the continent in archery
Juan Diego’s life has been linked to sport and it was common to see him stand out on the pediment, a sport that he has been practicing for several years. However, he set a new challenge for himself in his sports career and he is fully meeting it.
His objective in this Parapan American championship was to raise the name of Guatemala high and he achieved it. Juan Diego Blas defeated Argentine Simón Chismak in the second round of the event, which allowed him to qualify for the quarterfinals of the contest.
In addition, Juan Diego secured his ticket for the next 2023 Parapan American Games, which will be held in Santiago de Chile. But, as if that were not enough, the Guatemalan para-athlete became the first national to qualify for the Parapan American Games in archery.
A new national record
During the Para Pan American ChampionshipJuan Diego Blas not only ranked in the Top 10. He also achieved a new personal and national record.
In the first round of the tournament, the Guatemalan finished the qualifying round among the best 20 shooters with a score of 583 points. This helped him to surpass his best mark and also to establish a new national record.
With this Juan Diego continues to surpass himself and of course proudly placing the name of Guatemala on high.
