Is Ecuador left without the Qatar 2022 World Cup? The RESOLUTION of the TAS in the novel by Byron Castillo

It all started in May 2022, when a complaint was filed with the FIFA, alleging a possible falsification of the documents that established the Ecuadorian nationality of the soccer player. After this, the Disciplinary Committee dismissed all charges, which is why the federations of Chile and Peru attended the TAS.

After evaluating the situation since September 15, the court determined that the classification of the team led by Gustavo Alfaro be maintained. Despite the tranquility of the soccer regulatory body in Ecuador, it must comply with three sanctions.

The resolution for the Byron Castillo case: the sanctions

  • Three points will be deducted from Ecuador in the next Qualifiers.
  • He must pay a fine of 100 thousand Swiss francs.
  • The Ecuadorian Federation must pay 10 thousand Swiss francs to Chile and Peru.
