In front of Wrabetz’ eyes – against Rapid II: broken ankle overshadows everything

First stuck in the grass, then twisted his foot – the accident at Daniel Owusu took its course. “I straightened his ankle on the field,” explained club doctor Dr. Janousek up. The fear of an ankle fracture was confirmed in the Lorenz Böhler Hospital. “That overshadowed everything,” sporting director Markus Katzener wrote in shock. As a result, Vienna’s race to catch up after 0:2 against Rapid II took a back seat. Coach Zellhofer once again brought an impulse from the bench, ex-Rapidler Grozurek equalized to make it 2:2 (81st). “For the circumstances, we rocked it halfway,” said Zellhofer. “It was a great game for the spectators!” Also for the future Rapid President Alexander Wrabetz, who shared the excitement in the stands at the invitation of Vienna patron Roland Schmid. Like coaching legend Ernst Dokupil, once successful with both clubs, in 1989 the last coach under whom Vienna played in the European Cup.
