“I have no regrets” assures Fabio Quartararo, after losing his world crown

“I have no regrets because I have always given my maximum”, assured the French Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who had a last chance to save his world crown on Sunday, during the Valencia Grand Prix in MotoGP.

You have just lost your title of world champion against the Italian Francesco Bagnaia, crowned for the first time in the queen category. How do you feel ?
Fabio Quartararo: After the race it was hard, I’m a fighter and a winner, I want to be in first position. So obviously the first fifteen minutes after the race were difficult (…) We have to close the book and write a new chapter, and that will happen on Tuesday (during pre-season testing for 2023), so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Do you have any regrets?
Australia is the only race in which I did not drive with instinct (he gave up, editor’s note), So there, I have some regrets. But over the whole year, I have no regrets because I have always given my maximum. We made mistakes with the team, I made mistakes but it can happen (…) I learned a lot of things this year, like in 2020 when I know I was in difficulty. We will now have to take a big step forward, especially on the bike: I know that I can improve as a rider but it is clear that technically, we also have to take a step forward.

And for this last GP of the season, where you absolutely had to win – among other things – to hope to keep your title, do you have any regrets?
I did the whole race to the limit. But I have no regrets because I gave 100% today and when you lose the title like that at the end you always have to find the positive, even if right now I’m 99% negative. . The remaining 1% positive is the next four months of waiting until the first race (from the 2023 season, editor’s note), I will be even more determined to train hard, to prepare myself better.
