Four more games of sanction for Haritz Mujika

This new punishment for the Amorebieta coach is derived from a “communication error” between the Federation and the Zornotzarra club

New problems for Amorebieta and their coach, Haritz Mujika, who will continue to be unable to sit on the bench for another four games. In this way, there will be eight meetings in total in which the Pasajes technician will not be in charge of the Zornotzarra ship from the command post. Thus, Mujika will not be able to lead his team this Saturday in the Copa del Rey duel against Atlético Saguntino, nor during the following three commitments in the First Federation.

The new mess has its origin in a “communication error between the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the SDA”, as reported by the Biscayan club in a statement. A colossal failure. And it is that, according to the letter from Urritxe, Haritz Mujika should have started his punishment in the clash against Real Unión at Stadium Gal on October 9. But that day the blue coach did take his place on the bench, apparently unaware that he was already disabled. It wasn’t until the following day, in Urritxe against Bilbao Athletic, when the Blues coach began to serve that four-game ban that, in principle, ended on Sunday at the RCDE Stadium.

But it won’t. From the federative entity, a new sanction of the same duration has been imposed on the Zornotzarra coach, so it will continue to be his second, Unai Zubiaur, who is in charge of the team at the foot of the field.

Amorebieta explains that the error that motivates this second punishment for Mujika is “totally unrelated to the will of the Biscayan club, which in fact had renounced the possibility of presenting allegations against that first sanction.” However, as the coach did sit on the Stadium Gal bench after being sanctioned but without knowing it, as can be seen from the statement, the Federation has imposed this “new punishment of four games against which there is no recourse” .

A bizarre situation that has its origin in some statements by Mujika six months ago, after Amorebieta fell defeated in Las Palmas and suffered the umpteenth controversial arbitration in his career in the Second Division. Some forceful statements in the press room that seemed forgotten but that are now having consequences as delayed as they are serious.
