Four Leonese medals in the regional judo championship

The Leonese ‘harvest’ dates from a gold, a silver and two bronzes, three of which were achieved in the weight of 81 kilos

Valladolid hosted the qualifying regional championship for the absolute Spanish championship in which the Leonese clubs Kyoto de León and Blume de Ponferrada shone with four medals.

Alejandro Escobar was champion in the weight of 81 kilos, representing the Kyoto Club and contesting the final with his partner Mario Álvarez. The podium was closed by Marco Pinto, from Blume, who won bronze.

In 90 kilos, Gonzalo Alonso achieved a meritorious bronze in a complicated championship for the Leonese.

The Kyoto Club judokas Diego Juan, Francisco González and Pablo Fernández also took part, as well as Hugo González, from Blume.

Soon the selected ones will have to face the best judokas from Asturias, Cantabria and Galicia in the sector phase, from where the two best of each weight will take part in the final phase that will make up the National Team.
