Former Girona player, David Cañas, arrested in a drug-trafficking operation

The ex-footballer of Girona David Canas has been arrested as part of an operation that has managed to dismantle a gang dedicated to international drug trafficking, according to El Diario de Sevilla. The Sevillian player had a prominent role in the disarticulated organization in the operation, which has been called ‘marking’ due to the involvement of Cañas.

In the intervention, 9.5 kilos of cocaine were seized and up to 14 people were arrested.

David Cañas (Castilleja de la Cuesta, 1978) trained in the lower categories of Sevilla and made his debut with the first team. After going through some First and Second teams, in the 2008-09 season, he arrived at Girona from Albacete. He spent two seasons at Montilivi. Shortly after his departure, Cañas suffered testicular cancer, from which he recovered.
