Football creates a future” awards a prize in popular sport

The “Football Foundations Future” network presented its future prize for the first time, recognizing popular sport clubs for their innovative commitment. The prizes are each endowed with 5000 euros and went to five clubs that “have made local, social and ecological solutions possible”. They were awarded on Thursday in the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

The award winners are FC Internationale Berlin 1980, DJK/FC Ziegelhausen-Peterstal 1926 (Heidelberg), Ibbenbürener Kickers/Cheruskia Laggenbeck, TV Fischbek 1921 (Hamburg) and Quellen Spoho 1998 (Cologne). One of the members of the jury is national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

“Clubs deserve my greatest respect and recognition,” said 2014 world champion Toni Kroos, who also belongs to the network with his foundation: “With the Future Prize, we want to give clubs a little support and motivate them to keep going.”

“Fußball stiftet Zukunft” is a network of 37 foundations, including those of current and former national players and some professional clubs. The foundations of the German Football Association (DFB) and the German Football League (DFL) are also part of this.
