In addition, Juve will play against Nantes, Sporting against Midtjylland, Shakhtar Donetsk against Stade Rennes, Sevilla against PSV Eindhoven and FC Salzburg against AS Roma. That was the result of the draw for the games in the second round of the Europa League this Monday in Nyon.
Oliver Ruhnert, managing director of professional football at Union Berlin, is quoted as follows in a press release on the Ajax draw: “Ajax, as reigning Dutch champions, are ambitious and top-class opponents who have represented the Eredivisie in Europe for many years. Of course, the role of favorites is very clear here, but we’re really looking forward to these two games and will look for our chances.”
The dates in the overview
The first legs of the Europa League round of 16 will be played on February 16. A week later, on February 23, there will be the second leg. Whoever prevails after the first and second leg reaches the round of 16. The draw for the round of 16 duels will take place a day later, on February 24th.
