With a record turnout of 120 teams from different parts of the state, the 35th edition of the EL IMPARTIAL Christmas Basketball Tournament 2022 will be launched this Monday in six different gyms in Hermosillo.
The actions will start from 3:00 p.m. with duels of the categories Elementary Boys 2011-12, High School 2005-07 Boys, Elementary 2015-16 Mixed and Secondary 2009-10 Boys; in the Arena Sonora and the gyms of UVM, SMC Sport Center, Cobach Villa de Seris and the UES. The versatile Ana Guevara will host games starting Tuesday.
The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for this afternoon at 6:30 p.m. at the Arena Sonoraafter a presentation by cheerleaders and dance groups on the same floor, where the presence of authorities such as Erubiel Durazo, on behalf of the State Government; Carolina Guerrero, from the IDJH; the mayor Antonio Aztiarán and the directors of the participating institutes.
“We are in 120 teams, it is a record, because the last one we had was 110 in the 2019 edition, which was the last before the pandemic. We have teams of Hermosillo, Caborca, Nogales, Empalme, among others.
“There is a lot of momentum, the truth is, the teams come with a lot of desire. We see a very fortunate return by the players and the coaches for returning to those times of conviviality, which were absent for a few years,” he commented. Luis Leyva, coordinator of the event.
In addition to the basketball actions, which will continue until Thursday, December 8in Christmas the competitions of cheerleading and dancing, with a total of 35 and 25 teams, respectively.
