Dries Devenyns has been one of the loyal servants at Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl for many years and also a bosom friend of leader Julian Alaphilippe. That the rider at 39 is still of gold value to the team, he proved this season, among other things, in the Vuelta, in the service of winner Remco Evenepoel.
“With his enormous experience, he is a guide for the younger riders,” said his team. “It should come as no surprise that we have offered him a contract extension for 2023. It will be his 12th year with the Wolfpack and he is once again motivated to give his all.”
“I’m already looking forward to next season,” Devenyns responds. “Riding with a team like Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl is a childhood dream. I still like to work hard and contribute to the victories of the team. Many teammates have become friends in the meantime.”
Manager Patrick Lefevere is also happy that Devenyns will stay on board longer. “Dries is a boy who will go above and beyond for the team. He has a fantastic attitude and his experience is invaluable to the team. Dries remains calm when needed, has a great personality and always remains humble. He is a It’s great that we can still count on him in 2023.”
