On November 11, Yokohama DeNA Baystars announced on the team’s official website that DeNA held a press conference for new players in 2023.
At the press conference, 10 new players, including Shion Matsuo, who was drafted 1st, wrote their policy statement on colored paper and gave a greeting. The jersey numbers were also announced, with Matsuo unveiling the jersey number “5” and second place Mitsuki Yoshino “24”.
The new players’ statements and greetings are as follows.

“I wanted to win over everything. I want to fight for the team and contribute to the team with all my strength, so please call me Hama no Samurai.”
“Faith” #24 Mitsuki Yoshino
“I will do my best with conviction in everything I do.
“Passion” #00 Takuma Hayashi
“I chose this character to express my desire to work hard every day with passion for games and daily practice. My selling point is speed, so I would like people to call me Hama’s speedster.”
“Victory” #36 Ruda Morishita
“I think the most important thing as a pitcher is to win. I’ve loved Crayon Shin-chan since I was little, so please call me Hama no Shin-chan.”
“Sincere” #35 Tatsuya Hashimoto
“Since I’ve lived my baseball life up until now with the theme of honesty, I will continue to do my best with that feeling in mind. Since it’s the manga that inspired my name, please call me Hama no Touch.”
“Beginner” #127 Ryota Joko
“I will never forget this feeling, and I want to work hard to become a top catcher in the first team. Please call me Hama J.”
“Haki” #100 Ren Suzuki
“I want to become a strong player who can feel the ambition. I want to be able to feel the charm with a single swing, so I chose Hama no Bunbunmaru as my nickname.”

“I want to become a player who can cheer up the whole team. I’m the type to compete with control, so please call me Hama’s Precision Machine.”
“Gratitude” #106 Akitaka Watanabe
“I will continue to play without forgetting my gratitude. I chose Hama no Tetsuwan as my nickname because I am proud of my toughness since I was in the independent league.”
“Effort” #101 Haruto Kusano
“I want to keep working hard to become a player under my control and then a first-class player. I want to strike out from a first-class player, so please call me Hama no Strikeout King.”
