dates announced by the IOC, the Olympic gamers festival will be held in Singapore in June 2023

Il International Olympic Committee (CIO) confirmed that the first edition of theOlympic Esports Week will take place at Singapore between 22 and 25 June 2023.

The announcement marks the next big step in supporting the development of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement and further engaging gamers competitively.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Sport Singapore and the Singapore National Olympic Committee (SNOC), the‘Olympic Esports Week will showcase the best of virtual sports – physical and simulated hybrid sports – with a festival of four days where the latest technologies will be presented, round tables, training sessions and exhibition matches will be held.

The highlight of the week will be the premieres live endings (preview) of the Olympic Esports Series, a virtual and simulated global sports competition created in collaboration with the International federations (IF) as a result of the hugely successful Olympic Virtual Series last year. The 2021 series has drawn over 250,000 participants coming from 100 countries to take part in virtual and simulated sports competitions including baseball, motorsports, cycling, rowing and sailing.

Commenting on the announcement, the president of the IOC Thomas Bach said: “The first Olympic Esports Week marks an important one milestone in our ambition to support the growth of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement. We see the exciting new format of our virtual sports competition, with live finals being staged for the first time ever, as an opportunity to further collaborate with gamers from eSports and to create new opportunities for both players and fans. It is a perfect opportunity to partner with Singapore which has a history of supporting innovation in the Olympic Movementhaving hosted the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010, so we look forward to working closely together.”

Details, including information on how to participate in the inaugural Olympic Esports Week and Olympic Esports Series will be revealed atbeginning of 2023.
