was played on First Intercollegiate Tournament of the Great North in Chaco with the participation of the ten provinces of the NOA and NEA, where Jujuy was present with its representatives and they achieved very good results. The men’s basketball team of Colegio Comercial No. 2 “Malvinas Argentina” became champion in the final played this Friday against Salta. They thus completed a great year where they first won the capital instance, then the provincial one and finally the intercollegiate all undefeated.
First Great North Intercollegiate Tournament
It was the first time that these tournaments were held to strengthen the Norte Grande regional bloc. Organized this time by the province of Chaco, which hosted and received students from the entire region. The proposal aimed to develop spaces for sport practices, contemplating the interests of the students for the training of athletes within the school context.
In this way, the under-18 basketball and under-17 volleyball students participated in this championship that took place in four venues: Jaime Zapata Sports Center, Club Atlético Central Norte, Club Atlético Chaco For Ever and Club Universitario del Nordeste. On Thursday, November 3, the preliminary phases were played, while on Friday, November 4, they were the finals for both the women’s and men’s of both sports.

In the instance of men’s basketball, 7 provinces participated, although Chaco presented two teams to complete the two zones of 4 teams each. The people of Jujuy had to face the two teams from Chaco and the representatives of Formosa. While in the other zone Misiones, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán played.
In the preliminary phase that was played on Thursday morning, Comer 2 qualified undefeated in their area. In the semifinals they faced the team from Santiago del Estero where they won 27 to 18. For their part, the final played on Friday was against Salta. There the team from Jujuy won by 34 to 14 to take the first place.
Secondary No. 2 was second in men’s volleyball
In men’s volleyball, the school representing Jujuy was Colegio Secundario No. 2 “Francisca Triguero de Rocha Solorzano” which reached the final although it could not be crowned. They were runners-up in their category, thus closing a great day for student sports in the province.
