CL, round of 16 draws: an algorithm calculates the most likely Inter opponent

On November 7, the real Nerazzurri rival will be discovered in the next step of the Cup, meanwhile a mathematical calculation reveals the probable opponent

Everything will be known on 7 November because that day the draws will decide the pairings of the second round of Champions. L’Inter, like the other teams that have passed the draws, he will discover the next formation to play in second place in the first phase of the Cup.

While waiting to understand who will be the real opponent, an algorithm has calculated what could be – and it is the calculation of probabilities – the next rival to face for Inzaghi and his team. The calculation takes into account the limits set for the composition of the draws: it is not possible to meet teams of the same nationality or teams that have already faced each other in the Champions League groups. For example, the team of Inzaghi therefore he will not be able to face in the next round of the CL the Bayern and the Napoli among the first classified: the Germans were rivals of the Nerazzurri in the groups and Spalletti’s team cannot be a rival because they come from Italy. Therefore, by inserting the data and the stakes in a PC, through an algorithm, the teams that can be crossed with more probability can be established.

With regard to l’InterInzaghi and his team have more chances to cross the City and Tottenham than the other rivals. There is an 18,885% chance that one of the two English players will be associated with the Nerazzurri. The long-awaited cross between the Milanese team and its former coach could therefore materialize, Conte. Then there is Chelsea which could be a third option with an 18,679% chance. Just behind Real (14.654%), Porto and Benfica (14.448%).

Napoli, who finished first in their group, cannot draw Milan, Inter and Liverpool and have a 22.265% chance of meeting Dortmund or Eintracht, followed by Leipzig (21.414%), Psg and Bruges (17.028%). Milan could meet Bayern Munich: there is a 23.916% chance that Pioli’s team will meet the team that won the Nerazzurri group.
