Burnley from Kompany remains in the lead in Championship thanks to Houdini act against Rotherham | football England

Burnley appeared to be heading for his 2nd defeat of the season against Rotherham. At the start of extra time, the visitors were still leading 1-2.

But in added time, Burnley was able to exploit his numerical superiority after the exclusion of Roterham defender Bramall. Substitute Manuel Benson, also crucial last weekend with a goal and an assist, struck the equalizer against the net in the 91st minute.

And it wasn’t over yet. In the 100th minute, Dervisoglu made the 3-2 in the rebound (after a shot by Benson).

“I thought it was going to be one of those nights where the ball doesn’t go in, but we kept fighting and we were rewarded for that,” said an overjoyed Vincent Kompany after the game. “This will be a night to remember.”

After 19 matchdays, Burnley leads the Championship, with a 5 point bonus over Blackburn. “Many coaches have already warned me that teams in the lead at Christmas often sink. We should not focus too much on the standings, but on our performance and how to improve it.”
