Budějovice – Liberec 4:1, Motor broke the series of defeats and it is not the last

The South Bohemians started with Strmeně in goal, Hrachovina remained on the substitutes’ bench. Gazda introduced himself to the domestic audience for the first time. The coaches of Liberec sent only three fives in the beginning of the game, but their charges didn’t surprise the home team in any way by trying to set a fast pace.

On the contrary – they soon slowed themselves down with the first expulsion. The home team played an unremarkable power play, but gradually took over the activity and opened the scoring in the middle of the first period. Vráblík didn’t get a shot at the blue line at all, but after the second pass from Stencel, he was already aiming accurately. Then Přikryl and Čachotský also got into significant opportunities.

The guests started the second period better. A quick equalizer was arranged by Najman from close range, who was passed to Faško-Rudáš with a backhand after hugging the goal from behind. Shortly before half-time, the South Bohemians took the lead back. Three seconds after Liberec’s Kolmann’s penalty, Gazda disarmed the opponent and shot past Kváča with a long shot from the center of the pitch. Faško-Rudáš came close to equalizing in the 37th minute, but Strmeň happily blocked his shot from the right side with the concrete.

At the beginning of the third part, they did not use the home team’s fifth power play. Then the guests settled in the attacking zone, but Kolmann did not convert a great chance. Subsequently, Rychlovský was sent off for an unnecessary foul in the middle zone, České Budějovice squandered the sixth numerical advantage, but three seconds after its expiration, Štencel scored the third goal with a swing from the left circle.

Less than a minute later, Dzierkals added his fourth goal, who stretched on the left side around the goalpost and sent the puck to the opposite post from a difficult angle. Karabáček also sent a dangerous shot, but the score did not change.
