Basketball Africa League wins new award

The South African sports industry, which spans marketing, PR, digital, sponsorship, advertising, community investment, social media and branding, had come together to celebrate its best elements from South Africa and across the continent.

The second season of Basketball Africa League (BAL) ended in May with the triumph of the Tunisian US Monastir crowned second champion of the BAL. The BAL had organized 38 matches in three emblematic African cities: Dakar, Senegal (March 5-15), Cairo, Egypt (April 9-19) and Kigali, Rwanda (May 21-28). The principle of the caravan tournament, initially adopted when the BAL’s 2019 program was announced, has enabled a greater number of supporters to experience their favorite sport with passion, live and up close. This is how a crowd of 10,000 people attended the sold-out BAL 2022 final in Kigali. In total, the 2022 BAL season was followed in 14 languages, 214 countries and territories, including all 54 African countries, and generated more than 600 million online interactions on social and digital networks.

“It is a great honor for us to receive the African Excellence Award for the second consecutive year”declares Amadou Gallo Fall, president of the BAL. “We are proud that the impact created by the league in its second season is recognized. We look forward to an exciting new challenge and are actively preparing for the third season of BAL next year. »
