Novak Djokovic (ATP 8) he immediately got off to a strong start in the ATP Finals in Turin. Against the number one of the Red Group, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (3), the Serbian won 6-4 7-6 (7/4) showing solid tennis and managing to contain his opponent’s return in the second set. Breaking the Athenian’s serve at the opening of the partial and forfeiting the first set without worries, Nole had to defend in the second half the only break point granted to his opponent in the match, before imposing himself with authority at the tie-break.
Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev have decided to give us the first roller coaster of the 2022 ATP Finals. If amusement parks are full of surprises, Andrey could only be the winner of an evening that had everything and that was decided in the most beautiful way possible, in a final tie-break in which Rublev needed four match balls to finally raise his arms and win the match by (6-7(7), 6-3, 7-6(7)).
Rublev was clearly superior throughout the match, but he had to chase away his ghosts: he wasted six set balls in the first set and needed an impressive comeback against a somewhat subdued Medvedev.
