Beaten in its last five games in all competitions, ASVEL took advantage of the reception of Pau-Lacq-Orthez as part of the 10th day of Betclic Elite to return to victory.

ASVEL had been waiting for this for three weeks. After four defeats in Euroleague and one in Betclic Elite, the triple champion of France returned to victory when receiving Pau-Lacq-Orthez in the poster for the 10th day. If Elan Béarnais resisted at the start of the match, TJ Parker’s players quickly took control on the scoreboard. However, the Villeurbannais were unable to break away during a tight first quarter, the gap not exceeding seven units. A situation which was the same at the start of the ten minutes leading to half-time, without however the Palois not being able to regain the advantage in the score. While the difference has long oscillated between zero and three points, ASVEL put a big boost shortly before returning to the locker room. Amine Noua’s teammates (21 points, 5 rebounds) inflicted a 12-2 on their opponents to reach the break with a margin of ten lengths.

ASVEL held on

Back on the floor of the Astroballe, Elan Béarnais and Garrett Sim (18 points) tried to raise their voices and came closer to six units. It was then that the Rhone defense took the upper hand, allowing an effective transition game and a drastic increase in the gap. Thanks to a 14-2, ASVEL approached the bar of 20 lengths in advance, without however exceeding it before the end of the third quarter. Indeed, the Béarnais raised their heads, ending this period with a 12-3 to return to only ten points. A time returned to five units, the players of Eric Bartecheky could believe in a return of the valet devil at the end of the match but it was not. Maintaining the gap between seven and nine points for a good while, the Rhodaniens knew how to place the acceleration they needed in the last minutes to win by twelve lengths (91-79). A sixth victory in ten days which allows ASVEL to move up to sixth place. Pau-Lacq-Orthez, for its part, falls back into its traps and is in fourteenth place in the standings.
