Asensio returns under sweltering heat while Guillamón works aside

A visitor surprised the Spanish team in their first morning training session in Doha: the sensation of oppressive heat that presided over the session, typical of the European summer and the Middle East autumn, although the players endured the change in temperature well and some, like César Azpilicueta, they even welcomed it. “Imagine, I come from London,” replied the Navarrese with a smile at the press conference.

With about 30 degrees Celsius and more than 70 percent humidity, the team worked in field 1 of the University of Qatar (the Netherlands and Argentina also exercise in the same facilities, although in different fields).

The great novelty of the session was the presence of Marco Asensio, who worked normally, together with the rest of the group. The Real Madrid player from Mallorca had not been able to work in the first session in Doha, as a precaution after playing the friendly against Jordan.

The one who couldn’t work at the same pace as the rest was Hugo Guillamón, who did continuous running exercises with a physical trainer. It is expected that the Valencia footballer can arrive on time to participate in the first game if Luis Enrique deems it necessary.

Precisely the coach’s debut as a ‘streamer’ raised some questions at Azpilicueta’s press conference. The Navarrese was honest. “I would be incapable, but to see him the way he does, people are wanting to see new formats, we would never have imagined it, but the truth is that people expect something different, they have to adapt to the new generations” , said. Despite the high temperatures and the muggy weather, Spain will continue exercising in Doha in the morning. Hugo Guillamón continues to work separately, together with a physical trainer.
