Basketball – Endesa Women’s League
Unlike in men’s basketball, referees in the Women’s League do not have the ability to review questionable plays
BarcelonaA three-pointer by Brooke Williams out of time prevented Cadí La Seu from winning against Lointek Gernika (68-70). The Catalan team was left without the reward of the triumph in extra time due to the referee’s mistake. Unlike what happens in men’s basketball, the referees of the Endesa Women’s League do not have the possibility to use theinstant replay to review questionable plays.
Jordi Acero, coach of Cadí La Seu, used social networks to express his indignation. “Maximum impotence,” wrote the technician. The club, for its part, responded with irony to a tweet made by the official account of the Spanish Federation (FEB) in which a basket was spoken “over the horn” when in the video it is clearly seen that the shot is out of time
The other side of the day was for the other two Catalan teams of the Endesa Women’s League. Spar Girona beat Movistar Estudiantes (87-75) in a match that brought together 4,693 people in Fontajau.
Barça CBS, for its part, overcame Durán Maquinaria Ensino (69-74) and became the big surprise of this start of the season.
