Agbegnenou injured for his return, Riner beaten

Clarisse Agbegnenou, who was returning to competition after maternity leave, injured her knee in the final of the Judo Champions League on Saturday in Georgia, where Teddy Riner, back from injury, was beaten.

In this team event that she disputed with her club Red Star Champigny, Agbegnenou won her first two fights of the day, before losing in the final against her compatriot Margaux Pinot of US Orléans.

Three minutes from the gong, the double Olympic champion from Tokyo injured her right knee and could not finish her fight, leaving the tatami with the help of Pinot. US Orleans eventually won the final 5-0.

«Don’t worry, I’m fine. There is worse in life.” she reacted on Instagram. “I’m still happy with my recovery… I’m waiting for tests when I return to France to see the extent of the damage to my knee.added Agbegnenou, who gave birth to a baby girl just five months ago.

The competition was also marked by the return of Teddy Riner after an ankle injury suffered this summer.

The ten-time world champion, in the colors of his club PSG, lost his first fight against Georgian Guram Tushishvili in the quarter-finals. He then recovered to win the repechage against another Georgian, Giorgi Sherazadishvili, but PSG lost 3-2.

Riner had not fought since winning the Grand Slam in Budapest last July.

If PSG left without a medal on the men’s side, the capital club, carried by the new world champion Romane Dicko, won the bronze medal in the women’s competition.
