Zarautz: Japanese karate master Yasinari Ishimi visits Zarautz this weekend

This weekend, from this Friday to Sunday, the Japanese master Yasunari Ishimi will give a seminar on karate-do in all its aspects: Chinese style, syuri-Te, naha-te and tomari-te. A unique opportunity to get to know karate in its entirety; history, tradition, culture, philosophy, technique… and in which self-discipline is emphasized.

The seminar will take place at the Aritzbatalde pediment in Zarautz, which the public will be able to access from the exterior door of the same pediment (entry for the public of 2 euros valid for the three days). The sessions will begin this Friday, Friday, the 14th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; morning, Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 and from 18:30 to 20:00 in the afternoon and Sunday, from 10:00 to 11:30 in the morning.

Yasunari Ishimi, based in Madrid and a few days before his 80th birthday, is one of the few people in the world to achieve the tenth Dan (highest degree and distinction in karate-do). And he is the only one in Spain.

The Japanese, who was born in Osaka, has a degree in Philosophy and Letters from the Kobe College of Foreign Languages ​​and has been practicing karate since he was 13 years old. A hobby that has come to him since he was very young, since he was a child and mainly due to family tradition: «in my house there was always an atmosphere of martial arts, kendo or swords. My brother did judo and my older brother’s friend karate », he points out.

Master Ishimi currently resides in the mountains of Madrid and is dedicated to directing the activities of the European Karate Shitokai Ishimi Association and the practice of karate through it.

The seminar is a great opportunity to attend as an audience, learn about karate and observe how people practice in harmony. A beautiful show, too, in its most artistic version. Organized by Alberto Caballero (Kururunfa Karate Zarautz of the Bera Bera Sports Club) and with the collaboration of the Zarautz Sports Board, the Basque Association of Karate-do Shito Ryu, Bera Bera karate, Judo Club Lizardi and Gráficas Juaristi.
