Rifle shooters Anna Janßen and David Koenders won bronze in the three-position match at the World Shooting Championships in Cairo. The mixed team won 16:0 against the Swiss duo Jan Lochbihler/Franziska Stark.
“Both had endless fun in the final, because they didn’t expect to reach the bronze match and thus had nothing to lose. This fun inspired shot after shot, they are overjoyed,” said future national rifle trainer Achim Veelmann . In the semi-finals, Janßen in particular ensured fourth place and a place in the bronze match with a strong performance. Her 295 rings were unmatched by any of the 15 other semifinal shooters. The total of 582 rings was enough for the small final and bronze at the end.
