In four weeks, the German national team will play their first group game in Qatar. Hansi Flick has to submit a provisional squad for this. The national coach surprises with a BVB talent. A World Cup hero is also on the list.
GHansi Flick still has two and a half weeks until the national coach will announce his final squad for the World Cup in Qatar. He will select the 26 players who will travel to the desert from a preliminary list that he has already had to report to Fifa. According to information from “Bild”, the provisional squad includes Mario Götze (Eintracht Frankfurt), Youssoufa Moukoko (Borussia Dortmund), Rani Khedira and Robin Knoche (both Union Berlin).
On the list of up to 55 players, which the German Football Association (DFB), like all World Cup participants, had to hand in to the world association on Friday, the names of other surprise candidates such as Christoph Kramer, Luca Netz (both Borussia Mönchengladbach) and the Niclas Füllkrug (Werder Bremen) expected by many experts in the World Cup squad.
The preliminary squad list published by “Bild” includes 44 players, including five goalkeepers. According to the report, the 57-year-old Flick is considering taking four goalkeepers with him to Qatar. So far, three have been the norm, but a maximum of 23 players were allowed to be nominated in past tournaments.
