Triumphant debut of men’s basketball in the ABE League

The following commitments are against teams from Guadalajara

The UPAEP men’s basketball Eagles presented themselves at home with a 94-75 victory against Cetys Mexicali in a game of division 1 of the ABE League.

In the first minutes the game was even, UPAEP scored and Cetys responded (10-9) until a triple by José Zafra, a foul and count by Sadol Martínez and a quick break by Raúl Olea that forced a time out by the visit with a score of 18-10. The pause did not benefit the visitor, UPAEP maintained control and was uncovered with triples by Erick Gómez and a second by Zafra that left the match 28-13.

The Eagles kept control of the game in the second quarter. People of stature like Raúl Olea, Kevin Tapia and Carlos Santana were present on the board contributing 8 points, while Sadol Martínez repeated the foul and counted to later see triples by José Zafra and Javier García Zavala that left the score 53-32 before to go to rest.

Upon returning to the court, the team led by Javier Ceniceros maintained concentration and dominance despite the advantage they had. Sadol Martínez and Erick Gómez scored three points again, while Carlos Santana and Armando Tirado contributed seven points to close the period 78-56.

In the last quarter the Foxes were more forceful in offense; however, the difference was very big, plus Carlos Santana under the rim and two triples by Armando Tirado sealed the victory by 94-75.

In the next series, UPAEP will receive the teams from Guadalajara: on September 30 to UP and on October 1 to Tec.

Regarding the women’s squad, the Eagles fell 67-76 against Cetys Tijuana. In its next series, the feathered team will play at home against ULSA Bajío on September 30 and against Tec Guadalajara on October 1.
