There are no Argentines left in the Badminton competitions in Asunción 2022

The men’s badminton double, with the couple made up of Nicolás Oliva-Santiago Otero, was the last hope that the Argentines would continue in competition at the XII South American Games Asunción 2022. And that hope was fed when they beat the Brazilians Matías Santos-Donnians De Oliveira 21-18, 15-20 and 21-17, and advanced to the quarterfinals, in a match that was played at the León Condou stadium, but a few hours later, in that instance, they fell to the Peruvians Daniel La Torre-Diego Subauste, who will enter this instance directly, by 21-15, 21-23 and 21-17 and thus the competition in this discipline for Argentina ended.

The two Argentine pairs were eliminated in the debut of the mixed doubles after falling to the Brazilian pairs in the round of 16. Iona Gualdi-Nicolás Oliva lost to the Brazilians Fabricio Farías-Sania Lima 21-7 and 21-8, while Ailén Oliva-Santiago Otero lost to Davi Da Silva-Jaqueline Lima 21-10 and 21-13.

Iona Gualdi-Ailén Oliva suffered the same fate in the women’s doubles, losing 21-10 and 21-9 against the Brazilians Lima-Lima, in the quarterfinals.

Nicolás Oliva had no better fortune in the men’s singles, since he was left out of the main draw, in the round of 16, when he fell to Brazilian Matías Santos 21-10 and 21-12.
