The Union starts a new illusion in the National Basketball League

Within the framework of the new 2022/23 season, the Formosan team will debut next Monday at 9:30 p.m. at the Cinquantenario against Instituto

After a very demanding preseason under the technical direction of Sebastián Ginóbili, the Union is ready to start a new illusion in the National Basketball League.

In this regard, the Secretary of Sports and Community Recreation of the province, Mario Romay, in statements to AGENFORpointed out: “It’s 18 years already for the Union of Formosa in elite basketball.”

In addition, he stressed that those led by “Sepo” Ginóbili arrive at this new season “with renewed hope and a practically new team”, hoping that “this renewal will bring us a new air and bring us a better year.”

In that sense, Romay described that it is a “quite even, less experienced and plate than last year, but with ‘fresher legs'” squad.

Among the new hires is Tomas Cooper, who last year was the tournament’s top scorer with Argentino de Junín. Also, “we are missing José Ascanio, who is competing in the Venezuelan league and is also a player for that country’s national team. He has a lot of display.”

About this 27-year-old player, he announced that “before October 26 he would be joining the competition.”

To close, Romay evaluated that, in general terms, La Unión has “a very tough team physically”, which in such a long tournament and with many kilometers of travel, he considered that “having legs ends up being fundamental”.

On the other hand, in their last friendly match, played on the night of Thursday the 6th at the Cinquantenario Stadium, La Unión de Formosa defeated Villa San Martín 96-55.

Cooper with 20 points and Henry with 18 were the highest scorers in Sebastián Ginóbili’s cast.

The debut of the Formosa team will be next Monday the 10th against Instituto de Córdoba, last champion in the Cinquantenario since 9:30 p.m.
