The Seattle Mariners will return to the playoffs after more than 20 years of drought in the Major Leagues

The Seattle Mariners returned to the postseason for the first time in 21 years after defeating the Oakland Athletics 2-1 on Friday night in an epic game that takes them to the promised land.

In the bottom of the ninth, Mitch Haniger struck out on a 3-2 count for the first out. Carlos Santana also fanned with three strikes and with two outs it was Cal Raleigh’s turn, who entered as a pinch hitter for Luis Torrens.

With a count of 3-2, Raleigh hit the ball hard into right field and his home run gave Seattle a 2-1 victory over Oakland. What does qualifying for the postseason mean? It is the first time in Major League history that a player has qualified his team with a home run.

With this victory, Seattle has a record of 86 wins and 70 losses, and they will have to define their position in the wild card in the following matches to meet your postseason rival. So far his possible rival can be: Cleveland Guardians, Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays. The Major League Baseball regular season ends on October 3.
